Alex Kanevsky has a collection of beautiful paintings on his site... lots of layering and motion. I liked his answer to his ideal work space...
"A room with white walls and plenty of space between paintings. Moderate light of a neutral colour. I like squeaky wooden floors near my paintings. The rest is unimportant."
