New friends...

We've just added our finger-puppet friends to our etsy shop - we hope you love them as much as we do! It's quite hard to part with them (their little faces look just a little bit nervous as we pop them in the mail). But we know you'll give them a nice home, with lots of hot chocolate and sleep-ins to keep them happy.
If you buy 4 or more of these little guys you also get a little draw-string bag to keep them cosy. Just mention that you would like a bag in the check-out comments!

PS Thank you Martha Stewart for showing us how to make these little guys!

The winner(s) of Yumi's beautiful artwork...

Yumi and I have been offline for the past couple of weeks and finally we are back!
Thank so much to everyone who participated in our Give-A-Way - we so appreciated all your comments...

It was so difficult making a decision that we used a random number generator to do the work...

Our super-imaginative friend Blair came up with the lucky number, and happily his comment was one of our favourites too...

"My favorite is all of them. If I win one of them, I'd like it to choose me. Then I'll hang it above my piano and serenade it, and while it sleeps it can sing in its dreams telepathically to all of Yumi's other prints and they too will then sing with colour and goodness. And soon there will be a choir of singing Yumi colours across the globe and then we will eat them (because they're yummy) and then we will sing."

So we have chosen to send Blair the "Apples" print (because it's VERY yummy!)...

And just because we like to spread the joy, we chose a runner up, who happens to be Emjie. She had this to say about the "Rose 2" print...

"The shape and colour reminds me of strawberries and cake - a winning combination if you ask me. There is something very tender and peaceful about this print... like a lightly warm spring afternoon in a shady park."

Work on Fabric

Yumi and I have been developing a body of work that I think is quite exciting! Firstly Yumi creates her beautiful watercolour, pen and ink drawings, capturing moments in time. Then little aspects of her work are isolated and transformed into embroideries. We love working like this where one piece informs and develops into another. Hope you like this little example...

Valentine's Kisses

What a lovely Valentine's Weekend... NP and I are one of those couples who quite like the whole Valentine's cheesiness. We celebrated with a V-Eve dinner for two at the wonderful Mille Vini in Surry Hills. I was sent a delightful bouquet of chocolate-dipped fruit flowers which all the girls in the studio helped me devour - delish!

Yumi and I had a little afternoon tea treat on the Saturday with lovely heart shaped cookies... she bought them from 2 little girls raising money for the Victorian Bushfire Victims. Who could resist?

Once all the treat had disappeared we got stuck into some work for Souzou - we're busy finessing our product range which we'll be showing more of right here!

Souzou happened this weekend!

Yumi and I are super excited that applications for the Finders Keepers Markets have opened. We're busy making final touches to our goodies, working out styling, shoots and packaging and crossing our fingers the application is good enough to get in. We popped along to the last ones held at Carriage Works and it was such a fantastic atmosphere. So here's a sneak peak of how our stuff is coming along... more updates to come!

Renovations...

So Feeling Fuzzy? has been renovated and has been renamed Souzou. Yumi and I were chatting about what kind of online site we should have for our venture, and we both decided that keeping another site going was a bit beyond us. So Feeling Fuzzy? and Souzou have combined their powers!

A little bit about Souzou:

Hopefully Yumi will start blogging which I think will be a treat! Other than that nothing much will change.

Souzou loves Birthday Parties!

Yumi and I had terrific fun hosting Lana (8) and Scarlet's (5) birthday parties last November - we made lots of fun things and ate lots of chocolate cake!

Souzou's First Market Stall

Thank you so much to everyone who popped by to say hello while we were at the Marrickville Markets. We had such a lovely day (despite the gusty winds). Our little finger puppets were a hit, we were madly stitching new ones to pop on the stand for most of the day.

Souzou Day

Yumi and I met for a Souzou meeting last Sunday - less a meeting and more just hanging out and thinking of all the lovely things Souzou will bring to our lives really.

This is how the day unfolded...

+ A swim at Balmoral Beach to get our bodies relaxed and ready for forthcoming meeting.
+ The purchase of strawberries and peonies from the local fruit market
+ The meeting begins with "show & tell". Highlights included Yumi's library books (Lanvin), Frida Kahlo colouring in book, an Australian Vogue photo shoot with vintage hats and Japanese setting, Milk Magazine (French mag for kids) and a Charlie and Lola Activity book.
+ Ideas... once a month having a cultural festival eg. Tanabata Festival
+ Inspiration: Sparrow Kids, Lola et Moi
+ Public Liability - which to go with?
+ Planning our first Souzou Children's Birthday Party!
+ Selecting Sugar Plum circles for our Birthday Party headpieces.

Doshi Levien

I really love these seats... the colour and shape appeals to me no end. I would have these in my hallway (sea-grass on floor, danish credenza near by) or even better, in the Souzou Shop! Do you think you'd like to relax on these pieces while perusing a well-chosen book or magazine?

The beginning...

Yumi and I have been working on something very exciting this week. We've been hatching a little plan for a while now and on Wednesday night we had a little light bulb go off!

I think both of us are quite keen to have our own creative nook in the world... somewhere where we can do all the things that come into our heads.

We've come up with a name which we both like - "souzou", a japanese word meaning "to create something new from your imagination".

We are going to spend the next couple of months trialing our ideas at market stalls and will keep you up to date as to when these happen.

Here are some nice pics of our creative evening... Yumi bought over a bunch of Ranunculus which inspired her paintings and my textile pieces.
